Perayaan Hari Valentine itu berasal dari keputusan gereja Kristen untuk merayakan Valentine’s Day di bulan Februari. Pada akhir abad ke-5, Paus Gelasius, seorang Paus Gereja Katolik Roma mengumumkan 14 Februari sebagai Hari Kasih Sayang atau Valentine’s Day.
